# Create test cycle

> Create a test cycle and plan cases into it.

Creates a cycle. Plan cases into it afterwards with `POST /api/v1/test-management/cycles/{ref}/plan`.

>
> The token needs the `tests:write` scope, and its owner needs the right to plan cycles in the project.

## Path parameters

**projectId** `string` *required*

The ID of the test project.

## Request body

**name** `string` *required*

Name of the cycle.

**releaseId** `string`

The release the cycle tests.

**startsAt** `string`

Start date as an ISO 8601 date and time.

**endsAt** `string`

End date as an ISO 8601 date and time.

**ownerId** `string`

The person who owns the cycle. They get a message when it is closed.

## Plan cases

`POST /api/v1/test-management/cycles/{ref}/plan` takes `caseIds`, `folderIds` or `allActive: true`, and an optional `assigneeId`. Cases without an approved version are skipped. `ref` is the cycle ID or its key, such as `QA-C3`.
