# HERMES phase Concept

> The HERMES Concept phase in the traditional approach: situation analysis, solution requirements, concepts, solution architecture, procurement and phase release.

In the traditional approach, Concept turns the variant chosen in Initiation into a solution that everyone involved can plan, quote and build on a reliable basis.

## What happens in Concept

* **Situation analyses** are carried out, based on the chosen variant and the first situation assessment from the study.
* The requirements from the study are completed and fixed as **solution requirements**.
* If the solution affects business processes or structures, the **organizational requirements** and then the **organization concept** are prepared.
* The solution is designed. Its feasibility, or that of single components, is checked, for example with prototypes.
* The **deployment concept** is prepared. Depending on the scenario, the **test concept** and the **migration concept** follow.
* In IT projects, the **solution architecture** and the **operating concept** are prepared, and the solution architecture decision is taken.
* If the solution is procured, the tender is carried out, the offers are evaluated, and the product or system is procured.
* For systems, the **integration concept** is prepared.

## How Concept ends

The **phase release** decision for Implementation is taken. By then, the project and operating risks are identified, analysed and assessed, feasibility is confirmed, and the resources for the next phase are released on the basis of the updated project management plan and the offers received.
