Authentication
Requests to/api/v1 carry a personal API token in the Authorization header:
Creating a token
Open your profile, go to Security and choose Create token. Give it a name, pick what it may do, and how long it stays valid (30 to 365 days; every token expires). The token is shown once: copy it into your integration right away. If you lose it, revoke it and create a new one. A token acts as you. It can never do more than you can do in Collabase yourself; the scopes only narrow which parts of the API it reaches. For each area you choose a level: Read, Read and write, or Administer where the area has one. A higher level includes the lower ones. The areas follow the permission scheme of your spaces and the global modules:
Each endpoint states the scope it needs. Automation connections hold stored credentials, so reading or changing them needs
automation:admin.
Tokens issued before API keys were introduced no longer work. Your profile tells you how many are left; create new tokens to replace them. Guests cannot create tokens.
A token stops working when you revoke it, when it expires, and when your account is locked. Unlocking the account does not switch it on again; create a new token. Each token may make a limited number of requests per minute; beyond that the API answers 429 with a Retry-After header.
You can revoke a token at any time in the same place. Systems using it lose access with their next request.
Response format
All responses return JSON. Success:Rate limiting
Requests are limited per client address. If you exceed the limit, the API returns429 Too Many Requests; wait a few seconds and retry.
