This page is about MCP servers that Collabase connects to, so that its chats can use their tools. It is the opposite direction of the Collabase MCP server, which lets Claude, Cursor or another client work in Collabase, and of the MCP server of Studio, which offers the flows of an automation workspace to such a client.
The documentation server
Every instance starts with the Collabase Dokumentation server. It is public and needs no login, so CollabaseAI can answer questions from this documentation. It is marked Default. You can remove it. A server that you removed is not added again on the next start.Connect a server
1
Select Add
Open Admin → Settings → AI settings → MCP servers and select Add.
2
Enter the details
Enter a name and the public https address of the server. If the server needs a login, enter an access token. Collabase sends it as a bearer token, stores it encrypted and never shows it again.

Test the connection
Select Test connection. The result says how many tools the server offers, or why it could not be reached. Then select Save.
What the chat may do with a tool
- A tool that the server marks as read-only runs on its own.
- Any other tool asks the person who is chatting for approval first. The approval shows the server, the tool and the exact input.
- Everything a server answers reaches the model as outside text that it reads but never follows as an instruction.
- A server that does not answer within 8 seconds is left out for that message. The chat goes on without it. A tool call can take up to 20 seconds.
- One server adds up to 40 tools to a chat, and an answer is cut at 20,000 characters.
